Your Mac,
at a glance.
A calm, colourful monitor that lives in your menu bar. One look tells you whether your Mac is okay. One click tells you why.
No account · No ads · macOS 26 or later
Every reading
has its own colour.
Colour tells you what you're looking at, never how worried to be. When something needs you, Sightglass says so in plain words.
One click.
The whole story.
Every card opens the details behind it. Five panes for what your Mac is doing now, and what it did today.
Every core, and the apps behind it.
Every CPU core as a bar, grouped by type, then the five apps using the most CPU or memory, with their own names and icons.

Pressure, not just percent.
What your memory holds, how hard macOS is working to make room, swap, and whether it ran short of memory this week.

Disk and network, live.
Disk and network speeds, how much moved since Sightglass started, free space, and your disk's own health check.

Battery, watts and fans.
Battery health and cycles, how much power your Mac is using, fan speeds, and what is keeping your Mac awake.

Your Mac's day, in one view.
How CPU, GPU, memory, temperature, downloads and battery changed over the last day, and when macOS had to cool your Mac down.

It speaks up
when it matters.
And stays quiet when it doesn't. One notification per problem, with what to do about it.
Sightglass also notices when an app keeps the CPU busy, keeps using more memory, writes a lot to disk, or keeps your Mac awake. You choose which notifications you get.
Safe by design.
It only looks.
Sightglass never changes your settings, fans or apps.
Notarized by Apple
Every release is signed with Sightglass's Apple Developer ID and checked by Apple for malware before you can download it. macOS checks it again the first time you open it.
Only looks
Temperatures and fan speeds are read, never set.
No password
No administrator rights, helper tools or background services.
Private
No account, ads or analytics. It goes online only to check for updates.
Light
Of one CPU core on average over a day, and around 60 MB of memory.
Honest
Open source. A missing reading is shown as missing, never guessed.
Make it yours.
Every choice applies at once. Go ahead, try them.
Five menu bar looks
Values with symbols or words, side by side or stacked, or a small ring that adds a value only when something needs you.
Your colours
Colourful, Monochrome or High Contrast. Light or Dark. Roomy or compact cards. Three styles of numbers.

Questions.
Is it safe to download?
Yes. Every release is signed and notarized by Apple: Apple checks it for malware before you download it, and macOS checks it again the first time you open it.
Is it really free?
Yes: no ads, no account, no trial and no paid version. The code is open under the MIT licence.
How do updates work?
Sightglass checks updates.getsightglass.app once a day if you allow it, or whenever you choose Check for Updates… from its menu. Every update is signed, and Sightglass checks the signature before installing. Nothing about you or your Mac is sent: the server only counts checks per version, and keeps no IP addresses.
Which Macs does it work on?
Macs with Apple silicon running macOS 26 Tahoe or later. It also runs on Intel Macs with fewer readings, but hasn't been tested on one yet.
Why isn't it in the Mac App Store?
Apps there must run in Apple's sandbox, which blocks the temperature sensors, fan speeds, other apps' activity and the system reports Sightglass reads. So it's a direct download instead.
Why does another app show a different temperature?
Your Mac has many sensors. Sightglass shows the hottest working CPU and GPU sensor; other apps may average them or pick different ones.
My fans say "Fans off". Is something wrong?
No. Many Macs stop their fans while they're cool and start them when they're needed.
Sightglass disappeared from the menu bar.
macOS hides menu bar items that don't fit, often beside the notch. Press ⌃⌥⌘M to open Sightglass anyway, and pick a narrower look in Settings › Menu Bar.
Free.
And staying that way.
